4 Day Trip Throughout Turkey

Our family along with friends had the opportunity to travel to four historic Biblical sites in Turkey. We visited Pergamum, Smyrna, Ephesus, and Laodicea. This photograph was taken in the hot mineral deposit pools of Pamukkale.

This is the stadium in Ephesus.

This is the library in Ephesus which was astonishing to look at.

Family Photo

This family photo was taken on Istiklal Caddesi (Which means "Independence Road." This area was built with French architecture and influence.

A family photo taken in Taksim, Istanbul overlooking the Bosphorus River with the Asian Continent in the background.

One weekend excursion included a trip to the "Buyukada" or Big Island. While there we took a horse drawn carriage around the island.

A family outing flying kites, or should I say "attempting" to fly kites with another family on the seaside.

How we get around Istanbul

Unlike back in Ohio, we don't have a car. Istanbul has a very functional transportation system including 8 forms of transportation, of which we use all them. They allow us to get around both sides of the city (Asian and European) fairly efficiently. Transportation does however take a considerable amount of time and energy. Following are the 8 modes of transportation we take.
Coming soon is a photograph of a Turkish City Train.

This is a photograph of the Turkish Trolley we will occasionally use.
Coming soon is a photo of the Turkish Metro

This is the old fashion "taxi", spelled "taksi" here in Turkey.

This is a "mini-büs" If you notice, these get incredibly full. Should be interesting in the summer without "deoderant."

This is a Dolmuş, which in Turkish means "stuffed."

This is the "Deniz Otobus" or "Fast Ferry." This crosses to the other continent in 20 minutes.

This is one way we get from Europe to Asia, commonly known as the "Slow Boat." We travel to the Asian side twice a week for language school while Brooke and Brenna go daily to school.
